The bubble has burst

You may think that one can of fizzy drink won’t do you much harm – but think again. Studies have found that people who drink just one to two cans of fizzy drink a day have a 26% greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes than people who rarely drink them.

In addition to this, research shows that drinking one fizzy drink a day increases heart attack risk by 20% and gout by 75%!

And don’t be fooled into thinking that the diet versions are ok – a study published by the American Diabetes Association found that diet soda drinkers had 70% larger waist circumferences than non-diet soda drinkers.

So next time you’re tempted to pick up a can of cola or diet lemonade, switch for a glass of milk, a glass of water or a green tea.
