Choose skin products wisely
Try to avoid harsh products that further dehydrate your skin such as those that are soap and alcohol-based. Use a gentle cleanser and then apply a good-quality moisturiser (better oil-based than water-based) that will create a protective layer on the skin so that it retains more moisture.
Eat for healthy skin
Choose foods that are rich in antioxidants or omega fatty acids such as fruit, avocado and oily fish. These types of food all help to keep skin healthy by prolonging retention of moisture and nutrients. They also assist your skin with excreting waste products more easily.
Drink lots of water! During winter, we often reduce our water intake, but hydration is vital to the health of your skin. Keep a water bottle with you at all times to remind you to keep your intake up. Further hydrate your skin by moisturising at least a few times a day and after washing, especially if you have been exposed to severe weather conditions!
