To juice or not to juice?

When a friend of mine booked a juicing holiday, I was dubious about it to say the least. A week of only drinking juices did not sound like much of a holiday to me: I wondered if the juices would be satisfying enough to overcome hunger pangs. However, my friend returned feeling positive, full of energy, looking much healthier and having lost weight. So I decided to try it out…,

I surprisingly found the juices incredibly easy to make as well as being filling and tasty. Juicers and blenders work great; you literally place all the fruit and vegetables in and machine does everything else for you. The juices were satisfying, tasty and healthy. On top of this, fruit and vegetables nourish every cell in the body, help to prevent disease, flush the system of waste and they contain an abundance of vitamins and minerals. The combination of the juices being hassle-free and remarkably good for you converted me into a juicing fan.

I am not suggesting a new diet plan where you replace food with juices, as the healthiest diets contain everything in moderation. However, why not try juicing? If you like it, try having a juice a day, or a few a week as a way of ensuring you are consuming a variety of nutrients and giving your body the goodness it needs.

A delicious fresh juice recipe:

Ingredients:

1 inch slice large carrot

2 apples (Golden Delicious are best)

1/2 stick celery

1 small raw beetroot

1/2 inch slice lemon

1/2 slice ginger

Method:

Simply juice all the ingredients and slurp away…(pour over ice if you like)
